| UNITED WAY BOARD ANNOUNCES FUNDING DETAILS FOR 2010-2011 |
| Over the past 3 months, the United Way of Washtenaw County Board of Directors has been studying various next steps for the community investment of donor dollars for year 3 of the 3 year redesigned funding model, July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. The changes approved at the December meeting have been communicated to agencies currently receiving grant dollars. Agency applications will be frozen for any current non-funded agencies. Agencies interested in pursuing United Way funding beyond 2011 may contact the Community Investment Department at 734.677.7209 to sign up for future mailings and announcements. (Any organization is still able to receive designated funds, contingent on their meeting core eligibly standards as a 501-c-3 and compliance with the Patriot Act.) United Way will continue to focus on early childhood care and education, shelter and housing, alleviating hunger, aging, and health and dental care. In addition, a general grant category has been created which allows distribution volunteers optimal flexibility to fund a range of additional community issues through non-profit agencies. Twenty percent (20%) of available funds will be available for distribution in the grant category. Current funded agencies will need to maintain compliance with United Way standards, as well as submit a detailed 6 month report that will be scored and reviewed by community volunteers. Funding decisions will be made in late February 2010 based on the funds available as well as the scores of the reports. For additional information, go to Our Work at uwWashtenaw.org |
